Court denies suit by Georgian NGO regarding Baku-Tbilisi-Jeikhan pipeline project

A circuit court of Tbilisi denied a suit filed by the NGO Green Alternative against the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Georgian parliament regarding the Baku-Tbilisi-Jeikhan pipeline.

The Georgian NGO sought the annulment of the permission for the pipeline construction given by the Georgian Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources on 30 November 2002.

The organization demanded that the procedure of giving permission be carried out for the second time.

Activists of the NGO believe gross violations of the Georgian legislation were committed when the Georgian government gave permission for the construction of the pipeline.
