In Sochi, policemen force detained migrants to clean up police station, human rights defenders assert

In the village of Blinovo of the Adler District of Sochi, policemen detained about 20 people, including refugees from Ukraine, who were forced to clean up the local police station. This was reported by staff members of the human rights network "Migration and Law" and members of the Public Monitoring Commission (PMC) of the Krasnodar Territory.

The information about the fact that the detainees are forced to work as cleaners has been received by the "Migration and Law" on the phone from a migrant from Tajikistan.

According to the coordinator of the Sochi reception of the human rights network Semyon Simonov, when the human rights defenders arrived in the scene, they saw the policemen forcing about 15 migrants to sweep the yard, collect cigarette butts and wash the floors. Meanwhile, all the persons delivered to the police station had required documents, including certificates of temporary registration, and some of them had already received patents for labour activity.

According to the human rights defenders, when detainees refused to clean up the yard, they were subjected to violence. The human rights defenders believe that the policemen exceeded their powers and illegally used labour of migrants.
