Verdict in case of beating up builder Solovyov appealed against in Sochi

The verdict passed in the case of beating up Pavel Solovyov, a builder of Olympic facilities in Sochi, where an ex-policeman Sergey Kuznetsov was the defendant, has been appealed against, said the Solovyov's advocate.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in April 2013 Pavel Solovyov, a resident of Novosibirsk, who worked in Sochi at the construction of the infrastructure for the Olympic Games, was hospitalized in grave condition. Later he told me that he had been beaten up by a policeman.

On June 29, Alexander Enin, Solovyov's advocate, received two appeals filed on behalf of M. Galkin, the Acting Prosecutor of the city of Adler, and of Kuznetsov's advocate, in which they both ask to cancel the verdict.

"The appeal filed by the prosecutor's office looks especially strange, since it had approved the indictment and asked to sentence Kuznetsov to 5 years in prison; now they ask to cancel the verdict and re-qualify the actions of the defendant into the abuse of office, which had not caused any serious bodily harm to Pavel Solovyov," said the advocate.

He stressed that the grave bodily harm caused to his client was certified by experts' opinions. According to his version, the defence of the ex-policeman in general demands to cancel the conviction and render an acquittal.
