AI: customers of Politkovskaya's murder must stand trial

The jury verdict against five defendants that found them guilty of killing the Russian journalist Anna Politkovskaya is just a small step towards the triumph of justice. However, the trial has left a lot of questions; and justice will triumph only when the customers of the murder will be named and face trial, said the human rights organization Amnesty International (AI).

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on May 20 the jury found all the five defendants guilty and deserving no leniency. The announcement of the guilty verdict will take place on May 27.

However, the customers of the murder are still unknown, says the AI's release.

"The tragic murder of Anna Politkovskaya demonstrates the tremendous danger that threatens everyone who speaks and writes about human rights violations and corruption in Russia. Until the real justice prevails in her case, every journalist and human rights activist will be in danger," the authors of the release quote Sergey Nikitin, the head of the Russian representative office of the AI.
