Azerbaijan returns 77-year-old prisoner to Armenia

The Azerbaijani party has returned to the Armenian counterpart Mamikon Khodjoyan, a 77-year-old resident of the border village of Verin Karmirakhbyur of the Tavush Region, who was detained on January 28. He is in grave condition and unable to recognize anyone, said the administration of the rural community Verin Karmirakhbyur.

On March 4, Khodjoyan was handed over to the Armenian party by representatives of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in the territory between the Armenian town of Ijevan and the Azerbaijani town of Gazakh, Zara Amatuni, the ICRC press secretary told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

Currently, Khodjoyan is in the Ijevan hospital where he is examined, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was informed by the rural community. "Khodjoyan recognizes nobody; he doesn't speak; and his body has traces of beating," said a source from the village administration.
