Amirkhanov, Alikhan Huseynovich

Politician and statesman. Deputy of the State Duma of the Russian Federation.

Born February 17, 1956, in Frunze (now Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan). Ingush by nationality. Graduated from Moscow State Culture Institute and Checheno-Ingush State University, economist by major. Started his professional activities as a worker, later transferred to Komsomol and party work.

In 1995, became the head of Ingushetia Free Trade Zone administration. Starting 1997, was the head of the Entrepreneurship Development Center of the Republic of Ingushetia. In 2000, because the first deputy of the Republic of Ingushetia Government chairman and the head of the State Committee on Investments and Construction.

Was elected to the State Duma from the 12th Constituency (Ingush Republic). Date of start of the Deputy authority was April 15, 2001. Member of the Edinstvo (Unity) Faction.

In spring 2002, ran for the President at the Republic of Ingushetia early election. Received 43.19% of votes in the second tour, coming second after M.M. Zyazikov.

Married, four children.
