Sunday terror act becomes third explosion in Volgograd since beginning of 2013

The explosion committed on Sunday at the railway station in Volgograd became the third explosion since the beginning of the year. Earlier, the terror act was committed in the city bus, and there were attempts to blow up police buildings.

The explosion at the railway station in Volgograd occurred on Sunday at about 12:45 a.m. Moscow time. The criminal case was instituted on the fact of explosion under Article 205 (terror act) and Article 222 (arms traffic) of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. This was reported by officials from the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF).

Let us remind you that on October 21, the terror act was committed in a passenger bus in Volgograd. As a result of the explosion, six persons were killed, including a female suicide bomber, who, according to investigators, was Naida Asiyalova, a native of Dagestan. In total, 55 persons suffered in the explosion. According to the NAC (National Antiterrorist Committee), the order to make a bomb was given by Murad Gasimov, a leader of the "Makhachkala" armed grouping, who was killed on November 19 in Makhachkala.

Earlier, on August 7, an explosive device detonated at the office of the separate battalion of the road-and-patrol service (known as DPS) for Volgograd in the Kirov District of the city, no one was injured. On the same day, when checking the car parking of the DPS battalion in the Voroshilov District of Volgograd, an officer on duty found one more bomb, which was defused by OMON (riot police) fighters.
