Staff member of "Ecological Watch" detained in Maikop during picket in support of arrested Greenpeace activists

On Friday, in the capital of Adygea, the Secretary of the "Ecological Watch for Northern Caucasus" was detained at the picket in support of the Greenpeace activists kept in custody.

Activist Ivan Karpenko was photographing the picket held by Tatiana Lysenko, a member of the board of the ecological organization. The incident was reported to the "Caucasian Knot" by Tatiana Lysenko herself.

The protest action was held in Maikop near the building housing the subsidiary company of the "Gazprom". Policemen, who arrived at the place of the protest action, have expressed Ivan Karpenko their claims against his actions and then made the decision to detain him.

According to Tatiana Lysenko, the Secretary of the "Ecological Watch for Northern Caucasus" was first delivered to the unit on duty of the Maikop OVD (Interior Division), where a protocol of an administrative violation was drawn up against him for disobedience to the lawful order of a policeman.

The trial against Ivan Karpenko is likely to take place on October 26, and he will be detained till that time. This was reported by activists from the "Ecological Watch for Northern Caucasus". Officials from the unit on duty of the MIA's OVD in Maikop did not comment on the information.
