Azerbaijan: oppositionist Gakhramanly warned about inadmissibility of uncoordinated protests

On Tuesday, Fuad Gakhramanly, the Deputy Chairman of the Popular Front Party of Azerbaijan (PFPA), was summoned to the Baku Main Police Office (BMPO), where he was warned about the inadmissibility of uncoordinated protest actions.

According to Gakhramanly, at the BMPO he had a conversation with the Deputy Chief of the City Police and the Deputy Public Prosecutor of Baku.

"It turned out that I was summoned because of my statements that should the presidential election be falsified, we'll start protest actions. The high-ranking law enforcers told me about my responsibility for possible violations of public order and mass riots during protest actions uncoordinated with the city authorities. I said that we don't want to create any confrontation. If the results of the voting are rigged, we'll protest within the Constitution and the laws," Mr Gakhramanly told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

He has treated his call to the police as pressure in connection with his political activities.

Let us add here that the National Council of Democratic Forces (NCDF) has appointed a rally in Baku for October 12 on the outcome of the presidential election.
