In Khasavyurt, policemen detain Rizvan Yakubov unlawfully, Sapiyat Magomedova asserts
Rizvan Yakubov, a resident of Khasavyurt, was detained on July 5. His advocate Sapiyat Magomedova believes that he was unlawfully deprived of liberty. Rizvan Yakubov and his wanted brother are suspected of aiding and abetting members of illegal armed formations (IAFs). This was reported by the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA).
Let us remind you that Rizvan Yakubov, a resident of Khasavyurt, was detained on July 5. The police informed his advocate that Rizvan Yakubov was detained on suspicion of aiding and abetting militants.
His advocate Sapiyat Magomedova believes that Rizvan Yakubov was detained by mistake of law enforcers who intended to detain his brother Adam Yakubov.
On July 7, the Khasavyurt District Court was to pronounce the pre-trial restriction measure to Rizvan Yakubov in the form of keeping in custody; however, the trial was postponed for 72 hours when investigators present the characterizing materials on the detainee.
Finding out that the wrong man was brought to the court, the judge was to make a decision on the immediate release of Rizvan Yakubov. This was told to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent by Murad Imanshapiev, a member of the Advocates' Chamber of Dagestan.
In her turn, Fatina Ubaidatova, Press Secretary of the Dagestani MIA, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that the detention orders were drawn up with regard to both Yakubov brothers. She has clarified that one of the brothers was detained and the second brother was put on the wanted list.
The "Caucasian Knot" monitors the situation in Dagestan and records armed incidents and kidnappings.
