In Krasnodar, picketers accuse police of inaction in inquiring into fraud with shared construction

A sanctioned picket of defrauded housing investors was held in front of the UVD (Interior Department) for the Tsentralny Region of Krasnodar. The action was attended by 10 people who demanded to prosecute the developers who failed to fulfil their obligations.

Most of the picketers were to receive their flats in a house launched in Kovtyukh Street. According to the defrauded investors, starting from 2006, they concluded preliminary sales contracts with the developer, but in 2009 the land plot was arrested. The protesters claim that the developer and his wife refuse to contact and do not respond to calls.

Initially, the developer was granted a permit to build a private two-story house with an attic. On this basis, he began attracting people to invest into the construction, Lyudmila Alexandrova, the lawyer who participated in the rally and represents the interests of one of the shareholders, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

"Since most of the residents are legally incompetent, they could not differentiate that a permit to build an apartment block differs from a permit to build an individual house, and invested their money," explained the lawyer.

In her opinion, the developer "had intentionally sold flats cheap, below the prime cost, knowing that people would not be able to complete the construction for lack of money."

The authorities have not commented on the demands of the picketers; the developer was not available for contact.
