"Musavat" Party nominated its leader Isa Gambar as presidential candidate in Azerbaijan

The today's session of the Majlis of the "Musavat" Party has decided to nominate the party leader Isa Gambar, 56, to the post of the President of Azerbaijan at the regular presidential election upcoming on October 16, 2013.

The presidential election in Azerbaijan is scheduled for October 16, 2013– the day when the term of office on the incumbent President Ilham Alievexpires.

The Gambar's candidacy was put forward by Arif Gadjily, the head of the party's office. This proposal was unanimously approved and met with applause.

According to Mr Gambar, the ruling regime in Azerbaijan has completely lost international support; and by the will of the Azerbaijani people this year "the anti-democratic regime will be sent to the archives of history."

Isa Gambar was an activist of the national democratic movement of the late 1980s. Since 1992 he leads the "Musavat" Party. In 1992-1993, he was the speaker of the parliament.
