A strong fire in a building that is under construction in central Baku in the evening on March 29 damaged two apartments in the adjacent three-storey house and two cars. According to the Ministry for Emergencies (MfE) of Azerbaijan, there are no fire casualties.

The fire burst out at about 9:00 p.m. in the fifth floor of the building under construction in Suleiman Ragimov Street. Because of a strong wind, the burning decking began scattering and fell on the adjacent food market, which also caught fire. The flame started growing in the direction of the nearby single- and two-storey houses, whose residents had to leave their apartment with their things.

According to the MfE, in the neighbouring apartment building, in one of the 6-room flats of the total area of 150 square meters, the combustible structures and household items burnt down. The similar flat in the second level had its kitchen ceiling burnt down.

The fire burnt down the front end and the interior of a Ford truck and a Skoda car belonging to another individual.

Besides, at fire extinguishing, flats in the adjacent house were flooded. "All our apartments are in water. No measures to pump it out are undertaken," one of the tenants told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

The building, where the fire began lost its decking of the area of 2000 square meters.
