In Georgia, espionage and plot charges lifted from Tsotne Gamsakhurdiya
Tsotne Gamsakhurdiya, the son of the first president of Georgia, has been released from accusations of espionage in favour of Russia and a plot, aimed at dethroning the legally elected power. This was reported by her lawyer Keti Bekauri.
Let us remind you that in April 2010, Tsotne Gamsakhurdiya was sentenced to 9.5 years in prison for a murder attempt. On February 28, 2011, he was found guilty of bribe-taking; and the court increased the term to 13 years and 2 months. The son of the first president of Georgia was also accused of espionage in favour of Russia and participation in an anti-governmental plot. Gamsakhurdiya himself refused to plead guilty and believes that he was a victim of prosecution by the authorities.
At the court session on December 5 at the Tbilisi City Court, the representative of the prosecutor's office recalled the charge of espionage against Gamsakhurdiya, the "Interfax" reports.
The consideration of the case under Article 117 (intentional infliction of bodily injuries) of the criminal Code of Georgia will continue, the "Georgia-Online" reports. The next session of the court has been appointed for December 11.
