Leader of UNMP youth organization beaten in Tbilisi

Last night, in Tbilisi, Tsotne Gvasaliya, the leader of the youth organization, the member of the "United National Movement" Party (UNMP), was beaten by unidentified persons. Members of the Party suspect that the attack was committed for political reasons. This was reported by David Sakvarelidze, a candidate for Parliament from the UNMP.

According to Tsotne Gvasaliya, the leader of the Krtsanisi district organization of the youth wing of the UNMP, the conflict occurred near his house. Five men began to insult him and then beat him.

"They kept saying all the time that 'the time of the 'United National Movement' Party was over' and the time of the coalition 'Georgian Dream' came. I also did not keep silence, and, as a result, the quarrel turned into a physical confrontation," Tsotne Gvasaliya said. He was brought to the hospital with a closed craniocerebral injury and an injury to his arm.

The leaders of the UNMP expressed their concern over the incident and called on the leaders of the political parties to urge their activists and supporters to avoid confrontation.
