In the third quarter of 2012, 1 person fell victim to armed conflict in Karachay-Cherkessia

In the territory of Karachay-Cherkessia, in July, August and September 2012, at least 1 person, a killed policeman, fell victim to the armed conflict. These are the results of calculations of the "Caucasian Knot" based on own materials of the edition and information from open sources.

The "Caucasian Knot" reported that at night of July 26, in one of the lanes of the village of Uchkeken of the Malokarachay District of the Karachay-Cherkessian Republic (KChR), the body of the 26-year-old investigator of the centre to combat extremism of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) in Karachay-Cherkessia with multiple gunshot wounds, from which he died, was found near his car. According to a witness of the incident, the killed policeman was involved in a number of earlier special operations.

In the second quarter of 2012, according to the calculations of by the "Caucasian Knot", at least 6 persons fell victim to the conflict in the KChR. The death toll includes 2 power agents and 2 persons, who, according to the law enforcement agencies, were involved in the armed underground. The number of wounded persons includes 2 power agents. In the first quarter of 2012, in the republic, no one suffered in the armed conflict.

One should understand that the above statistics cannot reflect with absolute accuracy the number of victims in each of the identified categories of the survey. Not all the data get into news reports. It is not always possible to verify the reliability of statements made by law enforcement bodies.

In 2011, 34 persons fell victim to the armed conflict. Of these, 22 persons were killed and 12 were wounded.
