An ex-policeman in Armenia who committed an attempt of self-immolation went on a hunger strike
On July, 26, Mkhitar Alumyan, ex-officer of the Armenian police who earlier committed an attempt of self-immolation in front of the President’s residence, went on a hunger strike near the police office demanding compensation for overtime in law enforcement bodies.
On June, 7, the ex-officer of the police committed an attempt of self-immolation near the Armenian President’s residence. The man who poured ignitable liquid over himself survived. The policeman who committed an attempt of suicide has five children.
Alumyan made an attempt of self-immolation demanding compensation for overtime in law enforcement bodies and medical aid to his disabled daughter. The question of medical aid is already settled and Alumyan’s daughter will be operated on in the nearest future, Arminfo.am reports.
The ex-policeman is now demanding compensation to a sum of 2,5 million drams (about 6 thousand dollars). He said that he had already received 1,9 drams (about 5 thousand dollars) but the question of the rest 2,5 million drams remains unsettled.
Armen Makhasyan, officer of Press service of the Armenian police, and other officials came up to Alumyan and suggested to set out his demands in writing. However, the ex-policeman replied that he had done so several times but the problem remained unsettled, Tert.am reports.
