The Ministry of Interior Affairs: bodies of 20 victims in Krasnodar region still remain unidentified

Twenty persons out of over 170 who perished during the flood in Krasnodar region still remain unidentified, the Ministry of Interior Affairs of the Russian Federation reports. Data about injured and lost people in Crimea district is being clarified promptly.

Earlier, the "Caucasian Knot" reported that the heaviest showers caused a disastrous flood in Kuban. The flood enveloped the towns of Gelendzhik, Krymsk, Novorossiysk and settlements of Divnomorskoye, Kabardinka, Neberjayevskaya and Nizhnebakanskoye. As of 20:00, July, 8, 171 persons perished, among them 159 in Crimea district, two in Novorossiysk and ten in Gelendzhik. Over 24 thousand persons became victims in Crimea district, Governor of Krasnodar region Alexander Tkachev reported.

Today is a mourning day in Krasnodar region. The first funeral of victims of the flood passed off in Krymsk on July, 8. The residents have already buried eight persons.

Experts are pumping out water from houses and grounds, clearing blockages, burying dead animals

According to the latest data, experts have pumped out water from over half of the houses in the neighbourhood of Krymsk and in Gelendzhik these works are practically accomplished, Press service of Krasnodar regional Administration reported.

According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations, as of 07:00 Moscow time, July, 9, 5,185 thousand houses and 2,035 thousand adjacent areas with the population of 26,475 thousand people, including 6,33 thousand children, were underflooded in the zone of disaster. The sum of damage inflicted on the people is currently being estimated. 10 232 houses have already been examined. According to preliminary results of evaluation, 643 houses were destroyed, among then 547 partially and 96 totally. 3 300 people lost their property completely and 18 700 persons in part.

In process of liquidation of the emergency 2 854 people all in all were evacuated from the zone of underflooding (148 persons in Gelendzhik, 388 in Divnomorskoye, 2 298 in Krymsk and 20 in Kabardinka. 767 persons, 159 children among them, are currently in places of temporary accommodation and 2 082 are staying with their relatives.

65 kilometers roadways have been cleared from blockages in Gelendzhik and the neighboruhood. Almost all the injured boiler-houses are functioning as of today. Water intakes are being purged, transmission facilities repaired and house inspection carried out in Novorossiysk.

Urgent burial of dead animals has been organized in the territory of the settlements of Nizhnebakansky, Neberjayevskaya and Krymsk. 956 bodies of dead animals have already been buried.

10 564 of manpower, 1 292 units of techniques, among them 2 909 people and 435 units of techniques from the Ministry of Emergency Situations, are working on the site of emergency within a special group and facilities, web-site of Sothern regional Center of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Russian Federation reports.

Policemen safeguard abandoned houses and register damages

The police secures public order, guarding objects and controls traffic streams in the region. 745 policemen and 71 units of techniques are set in motion to secure law and order and public security during the period of liquidation of the emergency. Socially-significant and strategic objects are taken under protection. The roadways eroded by the flood are under control of Road Patrol Service. Bypass routes round dangerous areas have been set.

Additional forces of the Ministry of Interior Affairs of Russia were drawn up to the area of disaster. Districts injured by the flood have been taken under control for the purpose of non-admission of looting. It should be mentioned that the policemen have already detained several looters in Krymsk.

The personnel of bodies of interior affairs working on the site of disaster received an instruction from the operative headquarters of the Ministry of Interior Affairs of Russia to take photos and shoot videos of all the damages caused by disaster. This data will later help the citizens get compensations for the damage, a report on the web-site of the Ministry of Interior Affairs of the Russian Federation runs.

The Orthodox church is collecting money for the sufferers

In the morning of July, 8, all the Orthodox churches of the region (there are about 400 of them) served for the dead, Archimandrite Trifon (Plotnikov), Referent of Ekaterinodar and Kuban Eparchy, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

"We canceled cross procession devoted to the Day of Saint Peter and Fevronia Muromskaya because of the tragedy", Archimandrite Trifon said. According to him, an Orthodox aid staff headed by priest Alexander Karpets, Archpriest Sergy's son, was created with the Crimean Deanery. Fund raising is going on in all the Orthodox churches of Krasnodar region. The money collected will be passed on to the staff through the Eparchy.

"We decided not to collect things in the churches for sometimes people bring not what the sufferers need and with the money collected we purchase everything necessary in bulk. I spoke to Head of Evacuation committee who told me that warm clothes, food, mattresses, jackets, objects of individual hygiene and bread were necessary", Father Trifon said.

The priests serving in Krymsk are currently talking to the sufferers in places of temporary accommodation and right on the scene of tragedy. Vicar of Ekaterinodar and Kuban Eparchy, Bishop of Yeysk Herman (Kamalov) is expected to visit Krymsk today.

It should be reminded that fund raising for the sufferers of Krasnodar region is also going on in other regions, among them Stavropol region and North Ossetia. Actions in memory of victims and aid to the victims from disaster have also been organized in Moscow.

Today the people who suffered from flood will start getting compensations.

Residents of Krymsk where the majority of victims are registered are sure that they were flooded because of opening of the locks of Neberjaevskoye water storage located in the neighbourhood of the town. However, the management of UVK "Novorossiysk" company operating hydraulic facilities of the water storage refute this statement saying that Neberjaevskoye water storage only softened the stroke of natural calamity.
