Kumyks ask Putin to add their representative to the Council on Interethnic Relations
The Board of Elders of the Kumyk Nation asks to include their representative into the Council of Interethnic Relations under the President of the Russian Federation. A respective appeal to President Vladimir Putin was adopted at the sitting of the Board on July 7 in Makhachkala.
The extraordinary expanded sitting of the Board of Elders of the Kumyk Nation was attended by more than 35 members of the Board delegated by various territorial units of Dagestan, where Kumyks live.
The sitting discussed the topical issues of Dagestani Kumyks: land issues and the status of the territories inhabited by Kumyks.
The floor was given to more than 15 representatives from different regions of Dagestan, including Makhachkala, Korkmaskal, Tarki Kayakent, Atlanaul, Ulubiyaul, Karlanyurt, Dorgeli, Shamkhal-Termen, Lvovskoe, Uchkent, Kazanische, Leninkent, Khasavyurt and several other settlements, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told by Ruslan Gereev, Deputy Director General of the Dagestani newspaper "Nastoyascheye Vremya (Present Time), who attended the sitting.
