Policeman sentenced to two years of custodial restraint for shooting at drunken Krasnodar resident
The verdict against Andrei Scherba, the ex-staff member of the private security department of the Krasnodar UVD (Interior Department), who was found guilty of causing death by negligence because of improper execution of his professional duties (Part 2 of Article 109 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation), has come into force. This was reported by Natalia Smyatskaya, Assistant Director of the Investigatory Department of the Investigatory Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF) in the Krasnodar Territory.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that at night of May 20, 2011, the staff member of the private security department of the Krasnodar UVD shot and killed a drunken driver while checking his documents. People in a car reacted aggressively on the request to present the documents, and a conflict arose. The driver attacked the policeman, and at the time of the fight, the policeman made an involuntary shot to the head of the attacker.
The trial took place in the second half of April; however, the verdict has come into force on the other days. This was told by Natalia Smyatskaya to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
"The court sentenced Andrei Scherba to two years of custodial restraint and deprived him of the right to hold positions in the law enforcement agencies for the same period. His recognizance not to leave will continue to be valid," Natalia Smyatskaya clarified.
