Nurmagomed Magomedov, killed in special operation in Dagestan, was not militant, his brother asserts

In Dagestan, Arsen Magomedov, a resident of the city of Yuzhno-Sukhokumsk, stated that his younger brother Nurmagomed Magomedov, who was killed during the special operation held on June 8, was not involved in the armed underground.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on June 8, in Yuzhno-Sukhokumsk, 312 km northwest of Makhachkala, a counter-terrorist operation regime was introduced. Suspected militants were blocked in an apartment of a house. Six persons were killed in the special operation. According to the National Antiterrorist Committee (NAC), the deceased persons were identified as Rustam Gasanov, the leader of the "Kizlyar" grouping, his wife Djamilya Makagadjieva, who was put in the wanted list, Magomed Abdulmuslimov, Abdulaziz Magomedgadjiev, and Nurmagomed Magomedov. Khaibulla Labazanov, the owner of the apartment, in which the suspected militants had been discovered, was also identified.

"My brother had nothing in common with the militants, and he never held a weapon in his hands. On June 8, he just went to visit his cousin Khaibulla Labazanov," Arsen Magomedov states.

According to him, official documents from the relevant agencies confirm that his brother was not involved in the armed underground.

"We have asked to return us the Nurmagomed's body. Investigator of the Inter-District Investigatory Committee of the Tarumovka District, who introduced himself as Kasum, said that he could give the body out only upon receipt of official papers from the police, the FSB and the Department to combat organized crime of the Dagestani Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA), which would confirm that he had not been registered by power agents and had nothing common with militants and terrorists. We got all documents, confirming that my brother is clean before the law; however, till present, they did not return the Nurmagomed's body to us, and they referred to absence of an oral order from the Republic's Investigatory Committee," he has emphasized.

Rasul Temirkhanov, First Assistant to the Spokesperson of the Investigatory Committee of Dagestan, stated that he had no information on the fact that the bodies of the deceased persons had not been given out.

"I do not know what the matter is; however, bodies should be given out immediately upon receipt of papers from the Dagestani FSB and MIA. We give no oral orders to anybody," he has emphasized.
