In Dagestan, sentencing on case of policemen's beating teenager postponed
The Shamil District Court of Dagestan postponed court session on the criminal case of beating 14-year-old Makhmud Akhmedov in the building of the police station in connection with illness of Magomed Magomedov, the defendant.
Let us remind you that at night of July 19, 2010, policemen detained a 14-year-old teenager and brought him to the building of the OVD (Interior Division) of the village of Khebda of the Shamil District, and after that, according to the teenager's relatives, the policemen beat him, forcing him to confess stealing of a drill. As a result, according to the relatives of the boy, he became deaf in one ear. On June 1, during the debate, prosecutor demanded to sentence the defendants to 4 years of imprisonment in a common security colony.
Today, the Court was to listen to the final speech of Magomed Magomedov, accused of abuse of power by using violence, and to pronounce the verdict. However, the Court was presented a certificate of illness of the defendant, and in connection with that fact, the court session was postponed for an indefinite period.
