Earthquake hits Azerbaijan
In Azerbaijan, in the evening of June 5, near the town of Zaqatala, an earthquake measuring 4 points on the 12-point scale occurred, no one was injured.
According to the Centre of Seismological Service of the Azerbaijan Republic, the earthquake was recorded at 9:29 p.m. local time, in 15 kilometres south of Zaqatala.
According to preliminary information, tremors were also recorded in the territories, adjacent to the centre of the earthquake origin. The earthquake caused no casualties and no injuries, the "1news.az" reports.
Let us remind you that the strong earthquake in the Zaqatala District, occurred on May 7, destroyed about 1360 houses and damaged 20 social facilities; 36 persons sought medical treatment.
At present, construction works are already started in the earthquake area. "At first glance, the works produce good development. Part of building materials to be used in construction of houses, schools and other public facilities, has been already delivered, and the process continues. Good weather in the region also allows carrying out the works at an accelerated pace," stated Colonel-General Kyamaleddin Geidarov, Minister for Emergencies of Azerbaijan, while visiting the area on June 4.
He has emphasized that construction of schools will be completed by the beginning of the new school year, the "APA" reports.
