An action in support of clause 31 of the Constitution passed off in Astrakhan
On May, 31, a traditional meeting of supporters of “Strategy-31” was held in Bratsky garden of Astrakhan. About 30 people all in all took part in it, the police did not impede holding the action.
Actions in support of clause 31 of the Constitution granting citizens the right to gather freely and peacefully and express their opinion are held in different cities and towns of Russia every month which has the 31st date. Meetings within the framework of “Strategy-31” have been held in Astrakhan since July, 2009. Since December of the same year the actions have been going in form of gatherings, without submitting any notifications to the authorities.
Badges “Strategy-31” were given to everyone who came to Bratsky garden as well as a report “Putin, Corruption.2” prepared by the oppositionists.
Activist of “Strategy-31” Boris Khaikin said in his interview to the “Caucasian Knot” correspondent that he had been participating in the actions of protest yet since the -90s. He is dissatisfied with the policy of the state concerning the citizens’ rights and freedoms, therefore he always comes out on the 31st date to express his position.
After the meeting in Bratsky garden the action developed into a “white ribbon procession” to the embankment of the Volga where folk festivals are held at 19 o’clock every day. All comers in the embankment could receive a white ribbon, a badge “Strategy-31” and a leaflet explaining the goals of the action.
