Ex-captain of Georgia football team suspected of involvement in case on negotiated matches
Italian law enforcement agents, who investigate the case on the negotiated football matches, suspect Kakhi Kaladze, the ex-defender of the "Genoa" FC and the ex-member of the Georgian football team.
At present, 19 persons, suspected of involvement in the case on the negotiated matches, have been detained. According to the police, the football match, conducted in May, 2011, between the "Genoa" and the "Lazio" FCs, was strange, since the game ended with the expected result and a certain number of people earned a lot of money on that game.
In the nearest future, Kakhi Kaladze, the ex-football player of the "Genoa" FC, will be questioned in connection with the negotiated matches, the "Georgia Online" reports with reference to the Italian edition "La Gazzetta dello Sport".
According to Otar Chrdileli, Press Secretary of Kakhi Kaladze, the football player has nothing common with the scandal over the negotiated football matches, which erupted in Italy. According to Otar Chrdileli, talks about any allegations are unfounded, and in the case of interrogation, the football player can testify only as a witness.
Kakhi Kaladze himself also stated that he had no relationship to the corruption scandal in the Italian football, the "Sports.ru" reports.
