President of Georgia pardons 66 convicts on Independence Day

In the context of the country's Independence Day, marked on May 26, the Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili has amnestied 66 prisoners.

According to Khatuna Kalmakhelidze, the Minister of Corrections, Probation and Legal Assistance, all the pardoned inmates will be released today, the "Interfax" reports.

The pardon list includes five women and one minor. As reported by the "News-Georgia", the Patriarchate of Georgia and the Prosecutor's Office had submitted their recommendations on pardoning.
