MoD: nobody was hurt by explosions at training ground in Astrakhan Region
According to the Russian Ministry of Defence (MoD), at the training ground of Ashuluk in the Astrakhan Region, no one was injured in explosions of boxes with grenade launcher rounds. This was reported by Colonel Andrei Bobrun, Chief of the press service of the Western Military District.
Originally, a source in law enforcement agencies reported that the explosion injured one soldier.
"On May 24, at 12:10 a.m., at the training ground Ashuluk in the Astrakhan Region, in utilization area, inflammation and explosion of 120 boxes with rounds to hand-held anti-armour grenade launcher RPG-7, assigned utilization, occurred," the "Interfax" quotes Colonel Andrei Bobrun as saying.
According to the Colonel, personnel has been evacuated in due time, and no one was injured.
Urban areas also face no threats. The circumstances of the incident are to be revealed by the specially created Committee of the Western Military District, the RIA "Novosti" reports.
