FSIN rejects Aslan Cherkesov's petition to send him to serve his term in Kabardino-Balkaria
The Federal Penitentiary Service of the Russian Federation (known as FSIN) found no grounds for escorting Aslan Cherkesov, a native of Nalchik, to Kabardino-Balkaria to serve his sentence there. This was told to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent by Azret Cherkesov, the brother of Aslan Cherkesov, convicted for the murder of Yegor Sviridov, a football fan.
"I sent a letter to the President asking to transfer my brother to serve his sentence closer to home; however, the letter was redirected to the FSIN. On May 23, we received the written reply stating of absence of exceptional circumstances to transfer Aslan to another correctional institution," said Azret Cherkesov.
According to him, his appeal to the Presidential Administration was caused by the fact of beating of his brother. "There was a fact of beating; however, the fact is denied. Our mother is a pensioner, and she got a poor health. Lawlessness is being committed, and because of that, Aslan is considering renouncing his citizenship. At present, we are going to appeal a lawsuit against the Russian FSIN, since Aslan was unlawfully transferred to Krasnoyarsk," stated Azret Cherkesov.
