Four defendants in case of undermining "Neva-Express" train sentenced to life imprisonment

In accordance with the verdict of the Tver Regional Court on the case of undermining the "Neva-Express" train committed in 2009, four defendants were sentenced to life imprisonment. The remaining six defendants were sentenced to 7-8 years of imprisonment. This was reported by Musa Pliev, the lawyer of defendant Timur Kartoev.

On January 24, prosecutors demanded to sentence four defendants Zelimkhan Aushev, Beslan, Tatarkhan, and Murad Kartoev to life imprisonment and to sentence each of the other six defendants to 15 years of imprisonment. In their turn, defenders believe that the charges have not been confirmed and that their clients are innocent. In their final speech, the defendants also declared their innocence.

According to lawyer Musa Pliev, "the defendants took the today's verdicts with surprise."

"They did not expect such an injustice," said Musa Pliev. He continued: "The verdict is unlawful. Just imagine! The final speech was delivered at 11:00 a.m., and in two hours, the court pronounced the verdict of guilty. We are certainly going to appeal against it."

"Today, the Tver Regional Court ruled the verdict on 115 volumes of the case on the 'Neva-Express' train just within TWO HOURS!!!" emphasized Musa Pliev in his blog on the "Twitter".
