Kalmykia: policemen are suspected of beating detainee to death
The Investigatory Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF) conducts investigation into the case of beating in Elista of a man detained by policemen. The 47-year-old resident of the capital of the republic died from injuries.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on May 10, at one of the hospital of Elista, the man, who was delivered with injuries from the city duty unit of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) of Russia, died. In connection with the incident, the service investigation was initiated.
On that fact, the investigatory agencies of the ICRF in Kalmykia instituted the criminal case under constituent elements of crime under Paragraph "a" of Part 3 of Article 286 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (abuse of power committed with use of violence), Part 4 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (intentional infliction of grievous bodily harm, resulting in death of a victim). This was reported on May 16 by the website of the Investigatory Department of the ICRF.
According to the investigators, A. Semenov, the 47-year-old resident of Elista, was detained for committing an administrative violation, and then he was delivered to the hospital with multiple injuries. The victim died at the resuscitation ward of the hospital from the injuries.
In his turn, Oleg Kodenets, Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs, reported that, after being detained, the citizen "was repeatedly banging his head against the wall and then against the floor", and after that, he was hospitalized, the "Gazeta.ru" reports.
