Police blames defenders of park in Yerevan in violence against public officer
Armenian police instituted criminal case against a number of ecological activists, who for more than two months conducted rallies against the construction of the Mashtots Park in Yerevan and attempted to dismantle trade stalls on April 29.
"On May 8, the decision to institute the criminal case under the Article "Violence, not dangerous to life or health, or threat of violence against a public officer or his relatives in connection with performance of his duties, and impeding to performance of public officer's duties assigned to him by law" of the Criminal Code of Armenia was made in the Central Investigatory Department of Yerevan Police as a result of careful analysis and evaluation of all obtained information about the events of April 29," the IA "News-Armenia" quotes the press service of the Armenian Police as announcing.
According to the police, "in the course of legal action, more than a dozen forensic investigatory examinations had been carried out, explanations of direct participants of the incident had been taken, video records, reproducing the events of that day, and documents and other materials necessary for the case had been obtained and studied," the "ARMENIA Today" reports.
