In Sochi, trees cut down in green zone for building a dwelling house
At night on May 7, in Sochi, at the intersection of Pervomayskaya Streets and Kurortny Avenue, trees were cut down trees in the public green area. They plan to build a multi-story apartment building instead.
The trees in the green zone were cut down at night; in the morning workers were loading the felled sycamores, cedars, cypresses, palm trees and acacias into KamAZ trucks.
In the course of coordinating the development project, all the legislative acts have been observed; and the compensatory planting of greenery will be made by the customer and developers, said Oleg Sheveiko, Chief Architect of Sochi.
However, residents of Pervomayskaya Street argue that instead of 30, much more trees were really felled.
"Nobody id supervising how many trees are really cut behind construction fences. They write 28 trees in the cutting permit, but we've already counted more than a hundred," said Mikhail Ilyin, a resident of Pervomayskaya Street.
