Prosecutor's Office takes control over inquiry into the quarrel of "StopHAM" activists with relatives of Chechen official

The Moscow Prosecutor's Office will supervise the investigation into the brawl near the "Evropeiskiy" Trading Centre between activists of the movement "Nashi" and relatives of Tamerlan Mingaev, Deputy Representative of the Chechen Republic at the President of the Russian Federation, the Russia's General Prosecutor's Office (GPO) reports.

"The investigation has established that on 1 May this year a group of individuals, while being near a the "Evropeiskiy" Trading Centre in Kiev Railway Station Square of Moscow, grossly violated the public order and expressed a clear disrespect for the society. By using various objects as weapons, with no valid reason, they inflicted bodily injuries to one of the activists of the public movement "Nashi", who were holding the action 'StopHAM'," says the statement posted on the website of the GPO.

"The incident at the "Evropeiskiy" Trading Centre with participation of Madina, the wife of Tamerlan Mingaev, deputy plenipotentiary representative of Chechnya, was provoked by activists of the movement 'StopHAM'," the "Echo Moskvy" quotes Alvi Karimov, the press secretary of the head of Chechnya.

He has emphasized that violations of parking rules should be stopped by the state traffic inspectorate, not by individuals. At the same time, Mr Karimov has noted that people who violate traffic rules, should, of course, be held accountable.

"I am sure that if that woman was indeed Mingaev's wife, it was her instant breakdown, to which she was provoked, because such behaviour is unusual for the members of this family of intellectuals," said Karimov.
