Captain of "Volga-Balt-203" freighter detained in Georgia
The freighter "Volga-Balt-203" and its captain a Russian Viktor Korneev have been detained in the Georgian port of Poti for polluting the environment.
According to the Georgian Border Police, the ship drained its hydraulic oil into the water of the port.
The local court has already ruled to fine the Russian captain by about 40,000 US dollars, the "Interfax" reports.
Once the fine is paid, the captain and the ship will have the right of free navigation, the "Echo Moskvy" Radio reports. Now the ship sails under the Cambodian flag.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on March 19 the Georgian Coastal Guard detained in the marine waters of Sarpi the vessel Pur-Navolok sailing under the Russian flag. The Border Police of Georgia's MIA obliged the captain Yuri Danilov to pay a fine of 30,000 US dollars for violating the rules of navigation in the Georgian marine waters.
On January 20, the Frontier Police of the Georgian MIA detained Resul Kara, a citizen of Turkey and captain of the ship Osman Hasretler, for breaking the rules for entry into the territorial waters of Georgia.
