A charge against policemen involved in the "case of Merekha" brought in Stavropol region
The investigation in Stavropol region brought a charge against four ex-district militia officers of the Department of Interior Affairs in Predgorny district of Stavropol region. They are suspected of using violence against a forty-four-years-old local resident Viacheslav Merekha. The case caused a wide public response.
Earlier, the "Caucasian Knot" reported that at night of December, 15, 2010, resident of the farmstead of Kalaborka Viacheslav Merekha was detained in a drunken state by the militiamen of the Department of Interior Affairs in Predgorny district near his house and delivered to militia standby unit. According to social moderators of the Russian South, there he "underwent moral and physical pressure".
