Contract soldiers in Astrakhan region suspected of beating up a soldier of statutory service

Two contract servicemen are suspected of regular beating up a soldier of statutory service in Ashuluk firing range, Astrakhan region, Natif Gadjimetov, official representative of Public prosecutor's office of Southern military region, reported.

According to the headquarters of the military region, they beat him up demanding money from him. Besides, they took away his mobile for him not to be able to let his people know about it. As a result, the sufferer was hospitalized with grave traumas.

Two episodes of beating are established at present: on March, 17 and 20. The military investigators interrogated the sufferer in hospital and he told them everything in detail,"Interfax-Yug" media agency reports.

Upon the results of prosecutor's inspection the investigative bodies initiated a criminal case according to parts 1 and 2, clause 335 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (violation of regulations of statutory relations among the servicemen) stipulating a penalty of up to five years of custody, RIA "Novosti" reports.
