78 persons became victims of armed confrontation in Chechnya during the first three months of 2012

From January, 1, till March, 31, 2012, no less than 78 people became victims of armed confrontation in Chechnya, among them 36 killed and no less than 42 wounded. These are the totals of calculation by the "Caucasian Knot" based on its own materials and information from other open sources.

Among those killed there are 23 officers of law enforcement bodies and 13 persons who according law enforcement bodies were involved in armed underground.

As for the wounded people, there are two civilians and no less than 40 members of power ministries among them.

One should understand that the above statistics cannot reflect with absolute accuracy the number of victims in each of the identified categories of the survey. Not all the data gets into news reports. It is not always possible to verify the reliability of statements made by law enforcement bodies.

It should be mentioned that during the period of 2011, 201 people became victims of armed confrontation in Chechnya, 95 out of them were killed and 106 got wounded. Among those killed there were 62 persons considered gunmen according to official data, 21 members of power ministries and 12 representatives of civil population.
