Sochi hosts rally for preservation of beaches and parks of Imereti Lowland
Today, Sochi hosted sanctioned rally against privatization and destruction of beaches and park areas, organized by the territorial public self-administration (TPSA) "Psou". The protest action was attended by more than 300 persons.
Earlier, the "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Sochi residents protest against seizure and destruction of coastal area of natural beaches in the Imereti Lowland by the company "Mostovik" and against acquisition of the territory of the collective farm "Rossiya" (Russia) by the company "Sportivnye Initsiativy" (Sports Initiatives).
Natalia Kalinovskaya, Chairman of the TPSA "Psou", opened the meeting and read out to the rally participants the appeal of Sergey Obukhov, the State Duma deputy from the CPRF (Communist Party of the Russian Federation).
"In accordance with your instructions, I have sent requests to Mr Putin, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, Mr Chaika, General Prosecutor of the Russian Federation, Mr Bastrykin, Chairman of the Investigatory Committee of the Russian Federation, and Mr Tkachov, Governor of the Krasnodar Territory," wrote the deputy in his telegram.
Besides, Sergey Obukhov sent the rally participants the SMS-message, in which he pointed out that he had announced the concerns of the protesters and that the issues would be considered at the next meeting of the State Duma.
The participants of the rally condemned the local and regional authorities, which, according to the protestors, illegally disposed of natural resources of Sochi, belonging to all Russia citizens and not elected officials and unscrupulous companies.
The rally ended at 5:00 p.m. The rally participants adopted a resolution to be sent to the government of the Russian Federation and the State Duma. The document declares inadmissibility of misappropriation of natural resources by individuals for commercial purposes.
The participants of the rally also reported that three days ago they managed to stop construction works at beach and park area.
