Magomedova: Head of Committee of Inquiry of Russia controls investigation of beating up a resident of Dagestan by the police
Head of Committee of Inquiry of Russia Alexander Bastrykin has taken control of inspection on the complaint of beating up Abdurahman Djakaev suspected of illegal storage of arms by the police personnel of Khasavyurt, Djakaev's attorney Sapiyat Magomedova reported.
According to her, it became known from a reply she received from Ombudsman of the Russian Federation which ran that inquiry on lawless actions of the police personnel was taken under Alexander Bastrykin's personal control.
It should be reminded that Djakaev was detained during a special operation on March, 1, when 25 to 30 armed people drove up to his house in the settlement of Mashalaul, Khasavyurt district, in military vehicles. His relatives reported his abduction at once, however, a day later the news appeared that Djakaev was kept in district Department of Interior Affairs of Khasavyurt although earlier the police personnel denied that the detainee was in their office.
The detainee's attorney Sapiyat Magomedova told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that a charge according to clause 222 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (illegal storage of arms) was brought against him. However, his relatives state that the gun confiscated from Djakaev during search was planted to him and the man was severely beaten up on March, 17.
Sapiyat Magomedova directed an inquiry to Chief of the investigative isolation ward of Khasavyurt asking to establish whether bodily injuries were found during the examination of her client who was moved there from the Department of Interior Affairs of Khasavyurt district and if any which exactly.
"The reply I received ran that at the moment of Abdurahman Djakaev's delivery to the investigative isolation ward he was examined by a medic of the medical unit who found scratches and hematomas on the detainee's body", Sapiyat Magomedova says.
Chief of district Department of Interior Affairs of Khasavyurt Marat Imavov denies the information of lawless actions against the detained man. The police officer told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that he personally would "submit a complaint of Magomedova's slander".
