Several villages hit by landslide in Adzharia
As a result of a landslide in the mountainous Khuloy District of Adzharia highways and local roads and several houses were damaged.
The movement of rocks in the Khuloy District of Adzharia was caused by melting of huge masses of snow. Rivers overflew their banks and flooded farmlands. Six dwelling settlements occurred in the danger zone.
One of the houses was so severely damaged that the Iremadze family had to immediately leave it. A few more families need of urgent evacuation, the website of the TV Channel PIK reported on April 6.
Special machines are clearing the roads already covered with landslides. Road services operate in the emergency mode. Along the Shaltistskali River, they erect gabions – special reinforcing structures to protect riverbanks from erosion.
According to Anzor Bolkvadze, the majority deputies from the Khuloy District, currently the families affected by the disaster are provided with temporary housing, the "Georgia-News" reports.
