Karachay-Cherkessia starts action "Safe Internet"
The aim of the action launched in the republic is to prevent offences committed in the global network and increase users', first of all schoolchildren's, technical awareness.
"Every day, we see more and more Internet users; and despite the many advantages of the Internet, the World Wide Web is experiencing, including its regional segment, a permanent growth of illegal content," said Nellya Karabasheva from the press service of the republic's Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA).
"Same as the real world, the Internet abounds in scams, who launch all sorts of malware to help intruders perform their fraudulent activities. There are many different types of frauds, but mostly they are designed to steal money," said Vitaly Gerasimov, an expert from the group to fight frauds in Information Technologies (ITs) of the MIA of Karachay-Cherkessia.
According to the participants of the roundtable, to address the problem of spreading through the Internet the information, dangerous for children's and youth's psyche, several aspects should be considered: firstly, the inevitability of punishment for those who spread, for example, pornography on the web; secondly, strict parents' control over their children. Parents just have to know what their children are interested in, and take all necessary measures to prevent their access to questionable websites. Besides, the respective educational work is required in the sphere of spirituality and morality.
