Cherkessk Mayoralty rejects rally requested by Islam Krymshamkhalov's relatives
In Karachay-Cherkessia, Mayoralty of the city of Cherkessk rejected relatives of Islam Krymshamkhalov, the assassinated deputy of the National Assembly, in opportunity to hold a rally in Lenin Square on April 12.
On March 30, relatives of Islam Krymshamkhalov held a picket in the city of Pyatigorsk, protesting "against inaction of the investigators." Besides, they were going to hold a rally in Cherkessk on April 12 and filed a relevant notice to the City Mayoralty. At the same time, they expressed their doubts that the city administration would allow the event.
"And it happened so. We sent a letter via registered mail on April 2, that is, three days before the planned rally; however, officials from the Mayoralty informed us that our letter was received only on April 4. We were rejected on the reason that we failed to notify the Mayoralty about the planned event three days in advance, as required by the law. I cannot say that representatives of the Mayoralty did it on purpose. It could happen that the letter really came only on April 4," said Khadjimurat Krymshamkhalov, the brother of the assassinated deputy.
According to him, the relatives of the deceased deputy are planning to file on April 9 a new notification about conducting a rally. "Now, we will plan the date of the rally with a safety margin for possible mail delays. We want to hold the rally on April 20 in Lenin Square in Cherkessk," he told.
The "Caucasian Knot" has no comments from the Cherkessk administration officials on the rejection to hold the rally.
