Defence in case on riots in Manege Square to challenge the verdict at supervisory instance and ECtHR

The defence of the figurants in the case on the riots in Manege Square intends to appeal against the decision of the Moscow City Court, which dismissed the advocates' cassation complaints and upheld the verdict of the Tver Court of Moscow, at the Russia's supervisory instance and the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR).

Dmitry Agranovskiy, the defender of Igor Berezyuk, plans shortly to appeal against the decision of the Moscow City Court at the supervisory instance of Russia and at the ECtHR.

"The supervisory complaint will give the same arguments as the cassation one, because they were not taken into account and were disregarded by the judicial board of the Moscow City Court. Besides, I plan to seek recognition of the illegality of the decision at the ECtHR," Dmitry Agranovskiy told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

Evgeniy Arkhipov, the advocate of Ruslan Khubaev, has also announced his intention to continue his struggle for abolition of the accusatory sentence and for acquittal of his client.

"The authorities have actually laughed at political prisoners and the opposition, having insignificantly reduced the terms of imprisonment and shown how real the promises of 'liberalization' were; they left in fact the sentence unchanged," the lawyer Arkhipov told reporters.

In the near future he intends to prepare a complaint to the ECtHR and seek for consideration of the complaint in the priority manner. According to his story, real changes in the case on the events in Manege Square can only follow the change of the Russia's political system.
