Evgeny Ischenko, ex-Mayor of Volgograd, challenges verdict pronounced against him in 2007
Evgeny Ischenko, ex-Mayor of Volgograd, decided to challenge the verdict of guilty pronounced against him in 2007 and intends to prove his innocence. His lawyer Alexei Rozhnov has already filed a supervisory appeal to the Presidium of the Volgograd Regional Court.
On June 13, 2007, the Central District Court of Volgograd sentenced Evgeny Ischenko to 1 year of imprisonment for illegal enterprise and storage of ammunition. The ex-Mayor was released from custody in the courtroom, since he had served his sentence in SIZO (pre-trial prison) during investigation and trial.
The lawyer Alexei Rozhnov asks to cancel that verdict of the Central District Court and the ruling of the Judicial Division for Criminal Cases of the Volgograd Regional Court of August 28, 2007. This was reported by the representative of the press service of the Volgograd Regional Court.
"We will seek to justify Evgeny Ischenko and to insist on his complete innocence," stated the lawyer.
At present, the "Caucasian Knot" has no comments from the prosecution on appeals filed by the lawyer Alexei Rozhnov against the verdict pronounced in 2007.
