In Armenia, Khachatur Sukiasyan challenges DEC's refusal to register him as candidate for deputy
Lawyer of entrepreneur Khachatur Sukiasyan, the representative of the Armenian National Congress (NAC), appealed to the Administrative Court a complaint against the decision of the election commission of the district No. 10, which refused to register Khachatur Sukiasyan as a candidate for MP.
In case of a negative verdict of the court, Ara Zograbyan, the lawyer of Khachatur Sukiasyan, intends to apply to the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR).
Commenting on the decision of the District Election Commission (DEC) to refuse in registration of Khachatur Sukiasyan, Ara Zograbyan has explained that the certificate issued by the Department for passports and visas (DPV) of the Police of Armenia, on the basis of which the DEC had made the decision, bears no official departmental stamp, and that fact does not give reason to treat the DPV's certificate with regard to Khachatur Sukiasyan as a valid document.
In his turn, Samvel Yazryan, Chairman of DEC of the district No. 10, stated that the DEC is not authorized to evaluate the conclusion of the Police.
