Moscow City Court reduces sentences for riots in Manege Square
Judicial board of the Moscow City Court has mitigated the sentence for several defendants in the case of organizing mass riots in Manege Square in Moscow in December 2010 and reduced their terms of imprisonment by two and three months.
On March 14, the Moscow City Court postponed consideration of appeals lodged by the defence against the verdict against Igor Berezyuk, Kirill Unchuk, Ruslan Khubaev, Leonid Panin, and Alexander Kozevin, activists of the Other Russia, who were found guilty in the case of riots in Manege Square in December 2010.
Today, the Moscow City Court held consideration of appeals lodged by the defence against the verdict. The prosecutor's office filed a motion to the Court asking to reclassify the charges against the defendants and to reduce terms of imprisonment by one month in average.
For Igor Berezyuk, the term of his imprisonment was reduced by three months (the rest term of imprisonment would be 5 years and 3 months at a common security colony), for Ruslan Khubaev by two months (the rest term of imprisonment would be 3 years and 10 months at a high security colony), and for Alexander Kozevin by two months (the rest term of imprisonment would be 2 years and 4 months at a high security colony).
