17 Circassians come to Kabardino-Balkaria from Syria
A group of 17 Circassians has arrived from Syria to Kabardino-Balkaria, as reported by Beslan Khagazheev (Khagazhei), a board member of the public organization "Peryt" engaged in assisting compatriots to come back and settle in their homeland.
"These are two large families; and they are all relatives, including five small children. Some of them lived in the city of Homs, others – in Damascus," said Mr Khagazheev.
The repatriates were accommodated in the sanatorium "Druzhba".
"Yesterday they were very tired; and we didn't bother them even more by our questions about the situation in the country and Circassian community. Now we're going to the sanatorium to talk to them and find out what they need," he added.
The activist of the "Peryt" also said that they expect another group of resettlers to arrive later. "Since Syria is still under the President's ban on leaving the country for men under 40 fit for military service, many of them could not leave the country. Now, some concessions in this matter have been made," said Khagazheev.
