The “Party of the Greens” in Georgia warns about a risk of pollution of the Black sea with cyanide
The most dangerous inorganic toxin cyanide may get into the Black sea from a destroyed Georgian factory, Georgy Gachechiladze, leader of the ”Party of the Greens” of Georgia, told the journalists on March, 22.
According to him, the building of a factory located in Western Georgia, between Kutaisi and Zestafoni where hundreds kilogram of cyanide were stored was destroyed by snow. As a result the hazardous substance got under a blockage.
“If cyanide penetrates into natural environment the population will be in a serious danger for a dose of this substance even less than one gram is fatal for the human”, “Interfax” quotes Gachechiladze.
According to the ecologists, this substance may even evaporate and then return to the Earth in form of rains which is also a serious hazard.
The leader of the “Greens” considers that if the Ministry of Environmental Protection takes no measures in proper time cyanide will first get into the Kvirila river and then into the Black sea, “Gazeta.ru” reports.
There have been no comments from the Ministry of Environmental Protection on the information yet.
