In Dagestan, rally against kidnappings cancelled
Rally against kidnapping of people, organized by relatives of Akav Khalidov, the disappeared resident of the village of Chontaul of the Kizilyurt District, was cancelled. The action was to be held today at 10:00 a.m. in Kizilyurt.
Protesters intended to claim inaction of the investigatory agencies of the Kizilyurt District and Dagestan.
According to the organizers of the rally, in the today's morning, Magomed Utsumiev, Mayor, and his Deputy met Khalid Khalidov, the father of the disappeared man, and they persuaded him not to hold the rally.
"They told the father that it was not worth organizing a rally and that they would take the case under their control and investigate the case together with the Chief of the Kizilyurt ROVD (District Interior Division). The father agreed with the officials and told us that the rally is cancelled," the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told by the relatives of Khalidov family, who came to the rally.
On March 1, Rashidat Khalidova, the resident of the village of Chontaul of the Kizilyurt District, reported on disappearance of the 28-year-old Akav Khalidov, her husband. According to her, the day before the kidnapping, Akav Khalidov was twice stopped by the police: first, at the Central market in Kizilyurt, and later – at the Sultanyangiyurt patrol post.
