In South Ossetia, for first time during last 20 years, villagers undergo fluorographic examination
In South Ossetia, for the first time during the last twenty years, 52 residents of the remote villages of Dmenis and Satikar of the Tskhinvali District were examined with use of a portable fluorography device.
On March 21, at the initiative of Valentin Guchmazov, Chief of the Public Health Department of the Tskhinvali District of the republic, a visit to the village of Dmenis for fluorographic examination of the local population was organized.
"The doctors examined 18 senior schoolchildren of the village of Dmenis and nearby villages, officers of the ROVD (District Interior Division), farmers, and pensioners. People were frankly surprised by the medical examination, since, after the Soviet period, they do not remember such cases," the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told by Larisa Valieva, Minister of Public Health and Social Development of South Ossetia.
"The examination has identified problems in the lungs of three local residents. They require additional examination, which will be conducted in the republic's hospital," said Mary Valieva, Chief Doctor of the Tskhinvali district polyclinic.
"Earlier, we had no such opportunities. I even cannot remember the last time when I passed fluorographic examination," said Lyucya Kumaritova, a local resident. "Doctors recommend passing examination every year; however, I do not have enough time for that, and it is not convenient to go to the city specifically for that purpose. And at present, the science has come to such a progress – doctors brought the equipment to our village and examined all villagers in place. This is very good."
On March 22, the same medical examination was conducted in the villages of the Dzau District.
